**FEAR FREE TRAINING (COMPLETE FROM HOME)**

This opportunity is to help find and earn credit (5 hours) for Fear Free Training. To complete this opportunity and receive credit, please:

2) Link to: Fear Free Shelter Program | Reduce Stress in Shelter Pets 

3) Follow this link for the Volunteer Verification Form (it's needed to waive the program cost - should be free, so contact us ASAP if prompted to pay) - you'll save and upload when prompted on your Fear Free login.

4) Complete the training at your own convenience! We advise spacing sections out, though some do complete as quickly as 1-2 days. It's 5 hours total, and you'll get credit for the whole thing!

5) When finished, please email the Certificate of Completion to volunteering@lostourhome.org with your name, and "Fear Free" in the title

Once Fear Free Certified, you'll be eligible to register for Green / Yellow Paw Dog and Green Paw Cat classes. From there, you're able to help at events and with dog/cat enrichment activities (all the play time fun).

Event Details:

Fun and Easy Event - Show off our adoptable dogs and spread the word about LOH! 

Arrival: 9:30am at shelter - to help load dogs/supplies and transport10am if meeting AT storeEvent Time: 10am-1:30pm + setup/return (total is ~4.5 hours)Recurring Event: every 4th Saturday of the month

For the last couple of years, this was a small Saturday getaway with a dog and a volunteer or two. The Biltmore store is way more active, so we'd love to get a good group going out to this on the 4th Saturday each month!

NOTE: In recent months, we had dogs adopted the same day from this event! So amazing

For this month, that's March 28th 9:30am-2pm including pickup and drop-off.

**LOST OUR HOME AT ARIZONA WILDERNESS**

Join us as we showcase our adoptable dogs at a fun event in Gilbert! Proceeds of feature drinks go to LOH, so it's for a good cause too!

**This is an offsite event for Green/Yellow Paw Dog certified volunteers**: 

We will need volunteers to help load dogs & supplies (table, rolling cart, chairs, dog gear, etc.) and drive van (or individual vehicles if needed) to Arizona Wilderness Brewing in Gilbert. Looking for 2-4 volunteers

We'll provide all supplies needed! Volunteers will work with dogs, promote the shelter, encourage donations, and provide general dog adoption info.

At Shadow Shift, we will tour the facility, go over proper Shelter Care (laundry, dishes, kennel deep cleaning) procedures, answer any questions, and discuss other volunteering opportunities. The whole goal is for volunteers to leave confident and ready!

**Welcome to Green / Yellow Paw Dog Training!**

Please complete the following before signing up for this opportunity:

Orientation Video Shadow Shift At least 1 Shelter Care Shift Fear Free Shelter Training 

This training focuses on educating volunteers on dog behavior and best practices of Lost Our Home Pet Rescue. You will learn how to:

approach a dog in the kennelread body languageattach a leash and Easy Walk harnesstake them out to our play yards, play rooms, and/or for walks (as weather allows)interact with themunderstand our enrichment boards & tools

In addition, we will discuss

Dog Behavior Concepts: social organization, communications Body Language: reading what dogs are saying Working with Dogs in the Shelter: stress reduction and enrichment Handling Dogs Off-site: transporting, public places, socialization

As always, please observe LOH dress code: closed-toe shoes, long pants, no jewelry, and arrive 5-10 minutes early to check in at the kiosk and grab volunteer badges. We'll add stickers at the end!

Once completed, G/Y Paw Dog volunteers are eligible for all Dog Enrichment shifts & Offsite Events. Those who stay involved more consistently may be invited to additional training and/or to work with our Orange Paw dogs!

**FOOD BANK AND SUPPLY VOLUNTEER**

Please complete at least one Donation Logging Training shift first HERE 

These shifts are so valuable to our shelter's Food Bank program, which last year delivered 128,000+ meals to pet families in need, 100% from donations. Shifts may include:

food/supply transportinventory tracking and rotation for freshnessdonation logging, dating, and organizingstocking donated foods and supplieshelping prep resale items or open foods for partner pickuppicking up community donations from partners

If you have great attention to detail, and don't mind working on your feet, this may well the job for you!

Please understand food bank needs are dependent on donations and needs may, at times, vary. We ask that you help with Shelter Care if there is not enough to do in the Food Bank.

Shelter Care builds on your Shadow Shift training. It's your first chance to help our Animal Care, Medical, and Programs teams, while building confidence moving around the shelter. Every bit helps us give our pets greater care and reach more pets and people in need!

DOG ENRICHMENT

Note: Must have completed at least Green Paw Dog Training to register for a shift

Sign up for Green / Yellow Paw Dog Training to get ready HERE

This shift is meant to help our dogs decompress while here at the shelter and give them quality time away from kennels. Can include:

Play in the yards and in the play room - fetch, tug of war, etc.Dog Walking (when below 90 degrees) Agility training with our hurdles, play hoops, obstacle course, etc.Treadmill training (ask Volunteer Coordinator or ACT if interested!)Snuggles and petsReading, Petting, Brushing, etc...

Kindly remember to check water and clean up any "messes" in their kennel.

Upon Arrival, please do:

Check in at the Volunteer Kiosk (behind the front desk) & gather your name badgeFind an ACT (Animal Care Technician) for guidance and update marker boards with any enrichment provided or if yarding/walking any dogObserve "Puppy Protocol" (see signs around kennels) if interacting at all with puppies - we need to keep the little ones safe!

GRATITUDE AMBASSADOR

In this role, you'll assist the Philanthropy Team by making thank you phone calls or writing thank you cards, helping us personally thank each person who donates to Lost Our Home Pet Rescue (LOH). Here at LOH we know every donation makes a difference and we want to make sure the public knows that too. You will be invaluable in helping us reach this goal and be a big part of the team that inspires the public to continue to donate. Most of this can be done remotely!

An Ideal Gratitude Ambassador will:

• Be reliable and warm

• Have great customer service skills and is comfortable making thank you calls

• Have clear penmanship to assist in writing thank you notes

• Be professional and adaptable

Responsibilities:

• Able to use a telephone (it takes about 1.5 hours to make 50 calls) and can take good notes when talking to donors OR

• Able to hand write letters (we can provide the script if you’d like)

Schedule Needs:

• November – January: Busy season! We will need a volunteer each day, Monday – Friday, for about two hours (we can coordinate the day with you)

• February – October: Available for two hours per week

This is evolving, but work hand-in-hand with our certified Behaviorist Bryana on some or all of the following:

**FRONT DESK CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE SPECIALIST**

Volunteers who respond to this opportunity need to have completed:

We are looking for 1 volunteer per shift to help at our front desk Friday, Saturdays, and Sundays!

WHEN:

Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays ongoing 

9:30am -1:30pm    1:30pm - 5:30pm

The Front Desk & Customer Service usually involves a mix of:

Greeting guests and providing customer service  Answering phones, emails, and general shelter questions Assisting with incoming deliveries & donationsGathering Food Bank orders to distributeIntroducing potential adopters to cats in cat rooms Hanging out with our wonderful Adoptions team!

Ideal volunteers, once trained, will enjoy people, have relatively consistent availability at an above time slot, and be able to assist on weekends, but come try out the area first with low pressure and see how it goes!

Do note: conversations may at times carry some emotional weight (be about serious topics), though most are quite fun. It's a great crew, and we look forward to having you join!
